Another week of keto down and I’m feeling really good about it.
I’m not down any weight this week, which is kind of annoying, but I have suspicions that it’s because my period should be starting this weekend. Yes, you read that right, my period. And what is significant about getting my period you might ask. Well, it means I ovulated. Yep, I definitely ovulated! And when a woman with PCOS ovulates, it’s a big friggin deal. Sadly, I don’t think we ‘caught the egg’ this month, as I am certain my period is coming. My bbt has been falling, which usually means I’m not pregnant. Plus, I just have a feeling that it’s coming. But I’m okay with that because I honestly wasn’t even expecting to ovulate at all, so I am choosing to focus on what is going right with my health, and not think about another month, another negative result. I mean, we’ve been trying for almost 4 years now, what’s another month or two!
Now, I don’t know if it’s because I took Clomid at the beginning of this cycle that caused me to ovulate. I kinda doubt it because that was over 40 days ago, so I don’t think Clomid was effective, yet again. I honestly think it has everything to do with keto and the regulation of my blood sugars. I have been REALLY good with keto these last few weeks and I haven’t cheated once. I also don’t feel tempted to cheat. Keto food is delicious and I honestly already feel like I’m cheating. I also know how carbs/gluten makes me feel and I’m not about to make myself sick over a bagel.
Not yet anyway.
We’re still heading to Mexico is just under a month now and I am going to try and eat as keto as I can, but I am also going to enjoy myself and if that means eating tortilla chips with guacamole and drinking a few margaritas, then so be it. I’m gonna give myself a pass because I know I’ve earned it.
I’m still going strong with my intermittent fasting. I cheat a little on the weekends and I might have some veggies and ranch around 9 pm, Saturday night. I really miss eating chips and dip at night. I always allowed myself some chips on the weekend. So I figure a little bit of broccoli and some fatty ranch dressing isn’t so bad. I listen to my body and I eat if I’m hungry.
On a side note, I have become totally obsessed with the Blue Diamond Zesty BBQ almonds. They come in around 5g net carbs for 50 almonds. Some people might consider that too high for a keto snack, but I think it’s worth it. They are my favourite after work, pre-supper snack.
Has anyone else tried these? Or tried any of the other flavours? We don’t have the greatest selection in my neck of the woods when it comes to low-sugar, savoury snacks. I guess I could always make my own, but these are already so delicious!!
